28 June 2019

On the 19th June we hosted a day introducing the Reach out Curriculum and sharing the approach we have taken to developing our curriculum over the past three years. We were delighted to welcome 100 people to Reach from Primary and Secondary schools, MAT leaders and some independent schools.

The day began with a lecture by Jon Hutchinson on the Science of Learning that addressed the ‘why’ behind what we do. From there we went into separate Primary and Secondary sessions led by Jon, Emily Maule, our Head of Humanities and Ed Vainker. These address the curriculum itself, sharing our different curriculum resources and how these have been developed, and then a third session on enacting the curriculum which explored the twelve lesson elements we use and how we train and develop our teachers to effectively enact the curriculum.

We were delighted with the feedback we received on the day:

  • Thanks very much. It was great to see and experience what the school has done.   A very impressive journey and the whole day was delivered in a collaborative spirit
  • Thanks for an excellent day, it is refreshing and encouraging to see CPD that uses research and not just buzzwords and fads.
  • Very many thanks for sharing all of the work that you have done. It is such a relief to find a way to start on this path without having to find a way to put in all of the hours of work ourselves.
  • Thank you for a fantastic day. Your generosity and willingness to share expertise is most appreciated

We will be running a similar event on the 11th July focused on Primary. Do join us!
